Uppity Girl Productions was started by Heidi Rolston and Lisa Schwenk, who met in high school and have been always been passionate advocates for women and girls. Through media and events, Uppity Girl Productions tells the stories of women, girls and trans people and the challenges they face. Much progress has been made but women and girls still do not have agency or a voice. Women and girls must have:

• The ability to choose who, when, and if they marry

• The ability to decide when and if they will become mothers 

• Universal access to education

• The right to own land and receive equal pay

• Freedom from violence
